Grants

The Foundation annually awards four (4) grants to support artistic work, research, and the writing of scholarly articles. The Foundation awards grants exclusively to individual applicants and working groups.

The standard grant amount is 2 500 euros, though this may vary. The Foundation’s Board of Directors will make the final decisions based on the submitted applications.

The theme of this year’s grant is National Landscape Now? 

The concept of the national landscape holds a strong position in Finnish visual art and cultural heritage. This year’s theme invites applicants to consider the changing nature of landscape in the context of contemporary art and research. Applicants are free to define their own perspective on the theme and on the transformation of landscape. 

In the art of Kimmo Kaivanto, different transformations and shifts in landscape came together with a movement from individual experiences of place towards universal observations. 

The theme National Landscape Now? can be approached from multiple perspectives, either as a personal project or as a broader social and cultural inquiry. This year, the grant application period is 1–23 November 2026. Applications must be submitted through the foundation’s grant application system.
